Literature Text

The hope for more than friendship,
the sideways sometimes wish,
the dream so reoccurring
for maybe just one kiss.

We have a more-than-something,
I know it must be true,
but when I try to find it,
it's lost inside of you.

The mass of thoughts I fight with,
confusion's greatest friend,
I want what's best for someone,
but hearts they do offend.

So am I just a dreamer,
a nuisance and a jerk?
Or am I causing troubles,
Unwittingly some hurt?

I know I should just realize
this friendship is enough,
but that won't stop the torment
of unrequited love.
I dedicate this poem to all of my friends who are currently suffering this awful affliction, as it's one I suffer with too often as well. If you're one of my many friends who I have an unrequited love FOR, please go easy on my silly daydreams! And remember your own one-sided pursuits for others when I bat my eyelashes your way. :) Your friendship IS enough, and I only hope my affections for you are seen as a compliment, and a sign of how much I care for you.

It is often a hard lesson to learn, but I totally agree, friendship is more than enough. Beautiful poem.
